Today, the iPhone-Dev Team released PwnageTool 4.2. If you’re unfamiliar with it, you can easily create your own custom pre-jailbroken IPSW file that you can install onto your devices. How-to and downloads below!
In a nutshell, you have to give PwnageTool an untouched copy of iOS 4.2.1, choose your customization options, wait for PwnageTool to build your new IPSW, and then you can restore to the new IPSW in iTunes. This software is Mac ONLY.
This latest release fixes a number of bugs that greenpois0n had, and supports the following devices:
- iPhone3G
- iPhone3GS
- iPhone4
- iPhone4-Verizon
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
- iPad
- AppleTV 2G

Hi guys i have a quick question, i had no choice but to restore my iphone 4 to 4.2.1 as it fucked up…..would i be able to use this and then unlock…….or am i stuck on the new baseband
What you can try doing is downgrading all the way back to iOS 4.0.1 (as the baseband from future versions of iOS is too high for the current version of ultrasn0w), as the iPhone 4′s baseband can be downgraded.
If that is successful, you can make a custom iOS 4.2.1 IPSW with this release of PwnageTool, restore to it, and you’ll be good to go.
If it’s unsuccessful, you’re screwed until the iPhone-Dev Team releases another unlock.
